A Fresh Look For 2008
It has been a long time in the making, and is long overdue but finally, the new site is up and running. Just over a year since the group launched online and we now have over 50 members in the forum.
The aim of the group remains the same. That is, to provide local Mac users with an online community to get support, the latest news and product reviews. The forum extends this experience and allows members to keep in contact with other local Mac users, arrange meetings or even just to chat.
There is also a new widget for keeping up to date with the latest news from the site, right from within your Dashboard (on Mac OS X 10.4 or later). This will be released in the coming days. Keep an eye on the downloads section over the next few days. In addition, on the front page of this site are two live news streams. These give you the latest news direct from Apple and Macworld UK. Follow any of these links to be magically transported to those sites.
For the moment, it has been decided to no longer advertise the .Mac group from the main site. This is because most members do not have .Mac accounts, which makes this experience much less fun. However, the .Mac group will remain open and active.
On that subject, you will see that the group website has a small amount of tasteful ads on some pages. These are all either affiliate links to either the UK iTunes Store, or the online UK Apple Store or Google Adsense ads. If members use either of these, using the links provided on this site will help fund the cost of creating, maintaining and hosting the AbdnMUG website.
We do have some more upgrades planned to make the experience of using this site even better. However, if you have any suggestions, please forward them via email to myself.
Thats about it for now. Look out for more news and reviews in the coming days and weeks.
